What is the best way to sew beads on a t-shirt?

I have started embellishing t-shirts by sewing beads/sequins on them. What is the best way to do this so that they do not come loose after repeated washings? Can I sew them and glue them for extra strength? If so, does anyone have a particular glue that they can recommend? Or is there maybe some kind of wonder-under type product that I can iron on the back to hold the stitching in place?? Any help on this subject is greatly appreciated!!

NEVER EVER use aleene’s O K to Wash It glue. Use her Jewel-it glue. OK to Wash it turns yellow, then orange and I mean bright orange when exposed to prolonged sunlight. REALLLLY!!!!!! so don’t let your work be ruined.
the jewel-it glue is thin and bluish in color wet but dries absolutely clear and stays that way.
I saw a wedding gown in a shop window that went orange with that OK to wash it and the owner turned it around by putting up a sign that said, don’t let this happen to you, let me do your wedding right! Talk about a good save.

Instead of sewing on beads, have you considered the kind that iron on?
There are little svaroski crystals that you can buy at Hobby Lobby, as well as the iron applicator to apply them. I’ve used the little iron to put jewels on machine embroidery that I’ve done. It’s lasted through a great number of washings – it was on a girl’s dress.
There’s a company on the internet that you can buy them from too – I’ve seen them at some sewing shows. They also have iron on premade designs for shirts that might work… Link below…

If you have the patience, by hand is the best way. The glues don’t always work. Just make sure you loop throught the bead more than once to make sure it holds. Wash on delicate and don’t dry in the machine. Good luck!

Go into beading crafts on eBay and question some of the sellers there. I’m sure they would be more then willing to assist you.
